Q:  How to use the trial version?

    

A:   Before you install the trial version, you must has a database server (SQLServer,Oracle,DB2 or Sybase) which your computer can link and you should install the database link library on your computer, otherwise installing the database server on your computer is recommend. And you should install the official sample database of the database servers as declaration on the DOWNLOAD page.

    When run the Visual Database Analyzer ,the databases registered for demo will list as Figure.1





















   Click the Database Name with red underline, then a dialog will popup 















   Click 'Yes' to continue, then a dialog will popup to set data link properties according to different database type

Remark the red number in the figure:



If the database is IBM DB2 then select item '1'

If the database is MS SQL   then select item '2'

If the database is  Oracle    then select item '3'

If the database is  Sybase   then select item '4'

   After select the provider, click 'Next>>'  to set the database link properties . The 'Connection' tab will be different according to the database servers.

Microsoft SQL Server



1. Input server name or IP address in the edit box

2. Input 'sa' as username and password of 'sa' ,then confirm the 'Allow saving password' MUST be checked

3.Click 'Test Connection' to test it.

4.Click 'OK'

 

 

Oracle

1. Input instance name  in the 'Data Source' box

2. Input 'system' as username and password of 'system' and confirm the 'Allow saving password' MUST be checked

3.Click 'Test Connection' to test it.

4.Click 'OK'

 

 

Sybase

1. Input IP address and port (default is 5000)  in the 'Data Source' box, for example : 192.168.0.10,5000

2. Input 'sa' as username and password of 'sa' and confirm the 'Allow saving password' MUST be checked

3.Click 'Test Connection' to test it.

4.Click 'OK'

 

 

IBM DB2

1. Select a catalog database in the 'Data Source' combobox

2. Input 'administrator' as username and password of 'administrator' and confirm the 'Allow saving password' MUST be checked

3.Click 'Test Connection' to test it.

4.Click 'OK'
